Fairies in Training

When a selectively mute young fairy discovers that stolen children’s teeth are causing the stars to die, she must overcome her terror of speaking, rally a misfit team of fairies, and stop a bitter troll from plunging Fairy Society into darkness.

Fairies in Training is an original animated family fantasy/adventure feature screenplay by Paul Amdahl.

It combines a hidden magical society, oddball comedy, real danger and an emotional story about courage, friendship and finding a place to belong.

The Premise

A Tooth Is More Than a Tooth

In the hidden world of Fairies in Training, children’s teeth are part of something much larger than the familiar bedtime ritual.

Teeth are processed into magical material that helps replenish the stars. Starlight, in turn, sustains Fairy Society. When teeth begin disappearing, the stars start to shrink and the fairy world begins to fail.

Jewels sees the connection before the adults around her do.

The problem is that Jewels is terrified of being heard.

Her journey is not about becoming fearless. It is about learning that courage can mean acting while the fear is still there.
Team Remainders

The Fairies Nobody Expected to Save Anything

Jewels is joined by a team of young fairies whose weaknesses are obvious, whose friendship is real and whose value becomes clearer as the danger grows.

Jewels

Quiet, observant and frightened of speaking in front of others, Jewels notices what the adults miss. She does not need to stop being afraid before she can become brave.

Bubbley

A member of Team Remainders whose personality and friendship help give the team its offbeat energy and emotional warmth.

Nite-nite

Another unlikely member of the team, known for fainting at exactly the kinds of moments when fainting is least helpful.

Puppy

A frightened Storm Moth who becomes Jewels’ safest confidant and one of the emotional hearts of the story.

The World

Fairy Society Has Rules—and Something Is Breaking Them

The magic in Fairies in Training is playful, visual and strange, but it follows a real internal logic.

Teeth & Starlight

Children’s teeth ultimately help replenish the stars. When the teeth disappear, the loss reaches far beyond a child’s pillow.

Fairy Society

A hidden magical civilization with its own training, traditions, hierarchy and assumptions about who is capable of what.

Storm Moths

Fairies travel with moths through a human world that feels enormous at their scale, turning ordinary bedrooms and neighborhoods into adventure.

No Wings Required

These fairies do not rely on conventional fairy wings. Their world has its own visual language, movement and magic.

The Threat

Nip Wants the Light Back

Nip is a troll with an old wound and a grievance he has never released. He steals children’s teeth because he believes the light carried by those teeth should belong to him.

His actions threaten the stars, the fairy world and eventually the balance between magical and human life.

The danger grows because Nip is not simply destructive. He believes he has been denied something that was rightfully his.

Story tension

Jewels must convince others that the crisis is real before the failing stars leave Fairy Society without the light it depends on.

To do that, she has to do the thing she fears most: make herself heard.

Tone & Audience

Funny, Strange, Dangerous and Tender

The screenplay is designed for a family audience without writing down to children.

Big-Hearted Adventure

The story moves through genuine danger while keeping friendship, belonging and emotional courage at its center.

Oddball Comedy

Team Remainders is not a polished hero squad. Their flaws and personalities create comedy without making the emotional stakes trivial.

A Child-Sized Point of View

Human bedrooms, streets and nighttime neighborhoods become enormous landscapes when seen from the fairies’ scale.

Real Emotional Stakes

Fear does not disappear because the story is magical. Jewels’ growth comes from acting despite fear, not from being magically cured of it.
