The Story Behind the Barefoot Fisherman
Why Paul Wrote The Barefoot Fisherman
When Paul was a boy, he went to the library and read every fishing book
he could find.
What he could not find was a fishing book that seemed written directly
to children at the level where their interest actually begins.
Most fishing books were written by adults for adults. Even books a child
could read did not always speak directly to the young person wondering
which rod to use, where to stand, what bait might work, or why fish might
be in one place instead of another.
Years later, Paul wrote the book he had wanted to find himself.
That book became The Barefoot Fisherman.
The goal was to share practical fishing knowledge without turning the
subject into a classroom assignment or talking down to young readers.
